Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police were called to a home in the 600 block of West Lincoln Avenue in Onarga Saturday evening for a report of a home invasion. When they got there, officers were speaking to one of the victims outside the home when a gunshot was heard in the garage. By the time they entered the home the alleged shooter had taken off. Those inside the home at the time told officers their daughters ex-husband, 29-year-old Jordan R. Johnson of Kankakee had entered the home and assaulted them with a firearm. A search of the area was conducted by local law enforcement and Johnson was found near a nursery in Onarga where he took off on foot into a bean field with officers in pursuit. A short time later Johnson allegedly pulled a gun and shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police have asked State Police to investigate the incident.
