The project to dredge the Kankakee River at the Aroma Park Boat Launch hit a bit of a snag today. Bids for the project were opened today during the Kankakee County Board’s Highways and Waterways Committee meeting. There was only one bid, which was from JF Brennan and Company which came in at almost one-point-one million dollars, some 400-thousand dollars over engineering estimates. AJ Fricky, Director of Engineering for the firm employed by the county to do engineering work surrounding the project, recommended the Committee review the bid more closely before accepting or rejecting the bid
In the end, the committee voted to acknowledge receipt of the bid, pending review by the engineers.
