Beecher Police Capture Man After Fleeing

Beecher police report a man is in custody after attempting to flee officers Sunday morning. According to a press release, Beecher police were called to the 200 block of Woodward Street just before 10:30 Sunday morning for a report of a suspicious car, described as a blue Jaguar SUV. When officers arrived, they approached the SUV and talked with the driver identified as Floyd R. Thomas. After a short chat, Thomas attempted to flee by going into reverse, almost hitting one of the other officers on the scene. Thomas then fled the area and began traveling northbound on Route 1 at Eagle Lake Road. Crete Police started to pursue Thomas when he ran into a utility pole near Klemme Road and Old Post Road in Crete Township. After a short foot chase, Thomas was taken into custody and brought to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Charges against Thomas are pending.
