Wilmington Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of a Minor

The Will County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Wilmington man on criminal sexual assault charges against a minor. According to reports, 21-year-old Blake Wherry was arrested over the weekend in connection with a sexual abuse case first reported in April 2025 by the Wilmington Police Department. Because of the crime’s location, the case was transferred to the Will County Sheriff’s Office. Wherry allegedly sexually abused a juvenile victim in March 2025 and now faces three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13 and 17. Prosecutors filed a petition to deny pre-trial release for Wherry in Will County Court Monday morning.
