Bourbonnais Public Library Special Meeting Monday

The Bourbonnais Public Library District Board has called a special meeting for this Monday following Tuesday’s election results where its funding referendum failed to pass. In a Facebook post from Bourbonnais Library Board President David Stejkowski, the special meeting will be held at seven in the evening Monday at the Library. Stejkowski went on to say “Elections have consequences, and this one leaves the Library with real problems to solve. Our building needs a lot of repairs, and many of them can’t wait. I have therefore asked our Director to prepare options to reduce discretionary spending to pay for those repairs. I won’t dive deep into the details, but I also won’t sugarcoat it: these reductions will not be minor and they will impact greatly the services residents have come to expect such as service hours, materials, and programming.” Stejkowski says the purpose of Monday’s special meeting is to hear input from the public before any decisions are made at the library.
